Metal-organic frameworks, or MOFs, emerged as a promising class of crystalline hybrid materials composed of metal clusters or centers and organic linker molecules such as benzene dicarboxylic acid (BDC) that assemble to form a three-dimensional structure. The material is known for its high porosity and enormous internal surface areas. Its components permit various combinations of organic and inorganic blocks, giving rise to millions of different structures. MOFs have received considerable attention due to their topological and fascinating structures with specific properties and applications that represent an eternal desire for many material scientists. The diverse crystalline structure is designed by stitching clusters of metal (additionally known as secondary building units (SBUs)) with organic linkers, mainly nitrogen and carboxylic acid-containing ligands.
