Название: Convergence of IoT, Blockchain, and Computational Intelligence in Smart Cities
This edited book presents an insight for modelling, procuring, and building the smart city plan using the Internet of Things (IoT) and a security framework using blockchain technology. The applications of Li-Fi and 5G in smart cities are included, along with their implementation, challenges, and advantages. This book focuses on the use of IoT and blockchain in the day-to-day transparent and recorded activities of citizens of smart cities like, smart citizen management. The future for upgrading the system as per technological advancements is also discussed.
Our lives are becoming more comfortable and tangible as a result of smart technologies. In light of that, cities are becoming “smart cities” by implementing the Internet of Things (IoT) effectively. Utilizing IoT makes it possible to use wireless sensor networks; however, each node of the IoT system is vulnerable to various threats. The Internet of Everything (IoE) and the Internet of Computing (IoC) are combined to enable greater connectivity across a range of communication channels. Blockchain suggestively uses mathematical hashing and encryption tools for data security. By achieving innovative solutions, the citizens of the smart city will be able to collaborate with local governance for various services but not limited to subsidies under government schemes, health and safety, smart assets, education and employment, real estate, waste and sanitation, and renewable energy.
To fulfil the said requirement, it is highly desirable to integrate and manage physical and societal infrastructures, ensuring efficient and best utilization of available resources controlled by IoT and secured by blockchain. IoT system may connect myriad of nodes or machines of various kinds capable of communicating with each other to get services whenever required.
Nowadays, multimedia application over wireless sensor network (WSN) is in great demand and it becomes a necessary part of everyone’s day-to-day life in the era of smart cities. Due to certain limitations of WSN, such as battery issues, security issues, low communication speeds, etc., multimedia sensors are getting more attention from researchers. The most beneficial thing is that multimedia sensors are capable of exquisite video, audio, image, and scalar sensor data and transfer multimedia data via the sensor network.
WSNs consist of up to thousands of sensor nodes that work together to detect varying conditions like sound, motion, temperature, vibrations, pressure, etc. at distinct sites using IoT sensors. There are many applications where WSNs work well like target tracking, medical applications, security surveillance, habitat detecting, etc. There is more probability of data loss over WSNs at the time of data transfer than over wired networks. In wired networks, data get lost generally due to congestion problems; however, in WSN, there are many numbers of reasons due to why data get lost like node failure, habitat interface, noise, unreliable link, unexpected damage, etc.
