However, by far the most significant change in this third edition is the addition of a number of chapters dedicated to the use of MATLAB, not only for the graphical visualization of functions/solutions, but, much more importantly, for the numerical solution of PDEs. As familiarity with MATLAB is not assumed, Chapter 3 serves as an introduction to the visualization of functions, the use of MATLAB’s Symbolic Math Toolbox for solving ODEs, and a few MATLAB built- in functions.
