We have witnessed an explosion of research activity around nature-inspired computing and bio-inspired optimization techniques, which can provide powerful tools for solving learning problems and data analysis in very large data sets. To design and implement optimization algorithms, several methods are used that bring superior performance. However, in some applications, the search space increases exponentially with the problem size. To overcome these limitations and to solve efficiently large scale combinatorial and highly nonlinear optimization problems, more flexible and adaptable algorithms are necessary. Nature-inspired computing is oriented towards the application of outstanding information-processing aptitudes of the natural realm to the computational domain. The discipline of nature-inspired optimization algorithms is a major field of computational intelligence, soft computing and optimization. Metaheuristic search algorithms with population-based frameworks are capable of handling optimization in high-dimensional real-world problems for several domains including imaging, IoT, smart manufacturing, and healthcare. The book will offer valuable insights to researchers and scientists from academia and industry in ICTs, IT and Computer Science, Data Science, AI and Machine Learning, swarm intelligence and complex systems.

Название: Forecasting and Analytics with the Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model (ADAM)
Автор: Ivan Svetunkov
Издательство: CRC Press
Год: 2024
Страниц: 494
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true)
Размер: 10.7 MB

Forecasting and Analytics with the Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model (ADAM) focuses on a time series model in Single Source of Error state space form, called “ADAM” (Augmented Dynamic Adaptive Model). The book demonstrates a holistic view to forecasting and time series analysis using dynamic models, explaining how a variety of instruments can be used to solve real life problems. At the moment, there is no other tool in R or Python that would be able to model both intermittent and regular demand, would support both ETS and ARIMA, work with explanatory variables, be able to deal with multiple seasonalities (e.g. for hourly demand data) and have a support for automatic selection of orders, components and variables and provide tools for diagnostics and further improvement of the estimated model. ADAM can do all of that in one and the same framework. Given the rising interest in forecasting, ADAM, being able to do all those things, is a useful tool for data scientists, business analysts and Machine Learning experts who work with time series, as well as any researchers working in the area of dynamic models.

Название: Programs as Diagrams: From Categorical Computability to Computable Categories
Автор: Dusko Pavlovic
Издательство: Springer
Год: 2023
Страниц: 261
Язык: английский
Формат: pdf (true)
Размер: 10.1 MB

It is not always clear what computer programs mean in the various languages in which they can be written, yet a picture can be worth 1000 words, a diagram 1000 instructions. In this unique textbook/reference, programs are drawn as string diagrams in the language of categories, which display a universal syntax of mathematics (Computer scientists use them to analyze the program semantics; programmers to display the syntax of computations). Here, the string-diagrammatic depictions of computations are construed as programs in a single-instruction programming language. Such programs as diagrams show how functions are packed in boxes and tied by strings. Readers familiar with categories will learn about the foundations of computability; readers familiar with computability gain access to category theory. Additionally, readers familiar with both are offered many opportunities to improve the approach. While programmers program computers in a great variety of languages, mathematicians study mathematics in a great variety of completely different languages. A great variety of languages is a good thing, provided that the languages do not isolate but diversify the views of the world and that there are multi-lingual communities to connect them. Many mathematicians speak programming languages; many programmers are conversant with mathematics. The language of categories seems convenient for both, and to some extent connects the communities.

Photobiology is the branch of science that studies the interactions of living organisms with visible and ultraviolet radiation. This book first presents the theory behind calculations related to research in photobiology and describes how to use R as a tool for carrying out these calculations. This handbook describes how to use R as a tool for doing calculations related to research in photobiology. Photobiology is the branch of science that studies the interactions of living organisms with visible and ultraviolet radiation. Many of the most frequently used calculations are either related to the characterization of radiation and of the responses of organisms to radiation. We emphasize the first of these aspects related to radiation quantification and the position of the sun. These include acquisition, processing and summarising of spectral data including the calculation of non-weighted and biologically effective exposures. The text and examples assume some familiarity with R and/or programming, but guides those readers new to the language to tutorials and books that will help them learn enough to follow, use and modify the code examples included in the book.

Название: Software Architecture and Decision-Making: Leveraging Leadership, Technology, and Product Management to Build Great Products (Early Release)
Автор: Srinath Perera

Размер: 10.2 MB

Leverage leadership knowledge to make better software architecture decisions. Think deeply but implement slowly. The overarching goal of software systems (hence, for software architecture) is to build systems that meet quality standards and that provide the highest return on investment (ROI) in the long run or within a defined period of time. A great product requires a combination of technology, leadership, and product management (including UX). Leadership is primarily about managing uncertainty and making the right judgment. To build great products, technical leaders need to combine technology, leadership, and product management knowledge, and make the right decisions. Many technical mistakes come from the gap between knowledge about these three items and judgment. In Software Architecture and Decision-Making, Srinath Perera explains principles and concepts that software architects must understand deeply and how to employ those principles to manage uncertainty. The questions and principles discussed in this book help manage uncertainty while building software architecture and provide a framework for making decisions.

Название: How AI Works: From Sorcery to Science
Автор: Ronald T. Kneusel

Год: 2024
Страниц: 240
Язык: английский
Формат: epub
Размер: 19.3 MB

AI isn’t magic. How AI Works demystifies the explosion of Artificial Intelligence by explaining—without a single mathematical equation—what happened, when it happened, why it happened, how it happened, and what AI is actually doing "under the hood." Artificial Intelligence is everywhere—from self-driving cars, to image generation from text, to the unexpected power of language systems like ChatGPT—yet few people seem to know how it all really works. How AI Works unravels the mysteries of Artificial Intelligence, without the complex math and unnecessary jargon. Many books teach you how to do Artificial Intelligence (AI). Similarly, many popular books tell you about AI. However, what seems to be missing is a book that teaches you how AI works at a conceptual level. AI isn’t magic; you can understand what it’s doing without burying yourself in complex mathematics. This book fills that void with a math-free explanation of how AI works. While some books are down in the weeds and others offer a bird’s-eye view, this book is at treetop level. It aims to provide you with enough detail to understand the approach without getting bogged down in nitty-gritty mathematics.
