The main purpose of this book is to seek peer-reviewed original research papers on the foundations and new developments in Big Data, cloud computing and Data Science engineering. The focus will also be on publishing in a timely manner, the results of applying new and emerging technologies originating from research in Big Data, cloud computing and Data Science engineering. The findings of this book can be applied to a variety of areas, and applications can range across many fields.

Public data centers—facilities established, operated, and managed by central government agencies, local governments, and public institutions—are conglomerates of ICT resources, such as servers, networks, and storage. These centers operate uninterrupted 24/7, ensuring improved availability and stability. They also serve as critical infrastructure for implementing next-generation technologies, including IoT, cloud computing, and Big Data.

Furthermore, existing information systems managed in internal computing facilities or public data centers are being migrated to cloud environments. Newly established data centers are also being built based on cloud computing infrastructure. Although the adoption of cloud environments in public data centers offers numerous advantages—such as cost reduction, agility, and flexibility—it also introduces challenges. The inherent advantages of cloud computing blur the boundaries of security, leaving public data centers exposed to unforeseen security threats. Existing laws, guidelines, and policies related to security have limitations in ensuring adequate protection. Therefore, establishing an information protection management system and engaging in ongoing security enhancement activities are of paramount importance to safeguard data centers.
