Siedemnastowieczny Latopis hustynski od czasu pierwszego i jedynego wydania w 1843 r. niejednokrotnie zwracal uwage historykow i zrodloznawcow nie tylko jako ciekawy zabytek pismiennictwa ukrainskiego, ale rowniez jako interesujace zrodlo poznania dziejow przede wszystkim Rusi poludniowej, a takze Polski. Wielokrotnie anonsowano powtorne wydanie pelnego tekstu tego latopisu wraz ze wspolczesnym komentarzem, jednak jak dotad zadne z zapowiadanych wydan nie doszlo do skutku. Publikowano tylko fragmenty tego zabytku, ktore jednak nie daja mozliwosci korzystania z niego w pelni. Natomiast dostep do pierwszego wydania jest ze zrozumialych wzgledow znacznie utrudniony. Niniejsza praca sklada sie z dwoch czesci. Pierwsza stanowi omowienie tekstu Latopisu z uwzglednieniem jego specyfiki i pozycji na tle latopisarstwa ukrainskiego, zawiera analize niezwykle ciekawej jego warstwy jezykowej. Podjety zostal takze zawily problem autorstwa Latopisu hustynskiego oraz przesledzono polskie zainteresowania tym zabytkiem.
