I have ventured to bring out the second edition of the book Signals and Systems in its new form due to the success and wide patronage extended to the previous edition and reprints by the members of the teaching faculty and student community. The present edition as in the previous edition covers the undergraduate syllabus in Signals and Systems for the B.E. degree courses. A thorough revision of all the chapters in the previous edition has been undertaken. Few errors noticed in the previous edition have been removed and appropriate corrections have been made. Signal representation is a vital topic to understand the importance of the theoretical concepts in Signals and Systems.

Pipelined analog to digital converters (ADCs) have become the architecture of choice for high-speed and moderate- to high-resolution devices. Subsequently, different techniques of fault diagnosis by the built-in self-test (BIST) system have been developed. An ideal reference for graduate students and researchers within electrical, electronics and computer engineering, this book provides a rigorous, theoretical and mathematical analysis for the design of pipelined ADCs, along with detailed practical aspects of implementing it in very large-scale integration (VLSI). Mixed signal circuits incorporating both analog and digital systems have become increasingly prevalent in chip design. An analog system takes up a small area in a mixed signal circuit, however, its failure rate is rather high compared to the digital system. A systematic approach must be devised to fabricate a fault-free chip. The analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is a link between an analog signal and a digital circuit or system.

What if, instead of simply plugging an external or internal hard drive into your working computer, you could have a file server located somewhere in your home or office? One that offers access to files for any device on the premises, taking into account security settings that you can set up? This is the function of a NAS, or "Network Attached Storage" device. This file server does nothing except act as a go-between between the network and the hard drives. The Raspberry Pi, a super-inexpensive, low-power consumption, tiny computer, is just perfect for handling this task. On the more advanced side, we will not be looking at Openmediavault plugins or Docker containers, as these are so specialized they simply aren’t necessary for a basic NAS system. This is not an advanced configuration manual, nor does it cover every single option in the Openmediavault software.

The Raspberry Pi Pico is a high-performance microcontroller module designed especially for physical computing. Microcontrollers differ from single-board computers, like the Raspberry Pi 4, in not having an operating system. The Raspberry Pi Pico can be programmed to run a single task very efficiently within real-time control and monitoring applications requiring speed. To cap it all, the chip offers fast and accurate timing modules, a hardware debug interface, and an internal temperature sensor.

Field-coupled nanocomputing (FCN) is a class of post-CMOS emerging integrated circuit technologies that includes contestants with enhancements in terms of energy dissipation and feature size. Certain implementations indicate the possibility to realize molecular-sized elementary devices with ultra-low energy dissipation or clock frequencies in the terahertz range. This book discusses the main tasks of Design Automation for Field-coupled Nanocomputing (FCN) technologies, in order to enable large-scale composition of elementary building blocks, that obtain correct systems from given function specifications. To this end, a holistic design flow is described, which covers exact and scalable placement & routing, one-pass logic synthesis, novel clocking mechanisms for data synchronization, and formal verification for obtained circuit layouts. Additionally, theoretical groundwork is presented that lays the foundation for any algorithmic consideration in the future.
