Want a super quick guide on how to start with Arduino, here it is. Arduino is a gratifying hobby as it lets you create any projects you can dream of. There is no shortage of what can possibly be made from autonomous cars to retro arcade games to even lightsabers and even more. With such a large amount of information out there this super short guide will give you a place to start. Included in this super quick guide are:
Some common types of Arduino boards I’ve used How to get and use Arduino’s programming software Several electrical components you can use in projects And even some project ideas as well!
This guide will briefly introduce you to Arduino and electronics, which can be used in many ways to create projects with uses or to create art through different outputs mentioned later in this guide. If you have used Arduino before and would like some project ideas, there are ideas at the end of the book from which you can get inspiration. For those who’ve never used Arduino and would like some quick tips as this book is no way near everything, you could need to know, as that can’t be put in one book. Still, it is a quick guide on some common types of Arduino I’ve used and how to program them, and more importantly, some electrical components that you can use as inputs and outputs.
A little bit about me and my story with Arduino as a hobby. I always from a young age liked to create things that I imagine in my head, which meant I enjoyed Lego a lot. This led me towards looking at other ways I could do this where I eventually found an Arduino club just starting up in my local town. I joined this club and participated in the weekly meetups to do Arduino for about one year after which I moved away and couldn’t continue going to that club. But I was taught how to use Arduino IDE which is used to program the microcontroller and learned how to use some basic electrical components such as LEDs and servos which will be covered more later. After I moved I found another club called CoderDojo in Nelson New Zealand and joined the Electronics & Microcontrollers part of the club after finding out it was using Arduinos and Raspberry Pis. A Raspberry Pi is a small computer which won’t be covered in this book but if you wish should be looked at as they open up the possibility for projects even more. I have been a part of this club for over five years now and have helped the person running this club with community projects and have helped other members with their projects meaning I have some idea about what I’m talking about.
This book is by no means everything you might need to know before getting into Arduino but it is a speedy guide without any fluff into what Arduino is and how you could use it. If you are not sure if you want to get into Arduino or want some project ideas this quick guide help make the decision. So just scroll up and click the buy button and see you inside!
